Lhaviyani AtollEasily accessible from the shore via a short surface swim, the dive site begins with a series of sand dunes surrounding the marker boy.

Lhaviyani AtollJust a quick 5-minute boat trip on the east side of Fushifaru island is the Fushifaru Kandu, a 500 metre wide channel that has been declared Protected Marine Area.

Fushifaru Thila
Lhaviyani AtollThe main attraction in the channel of Fushifaru Kandu is the Fushifaru Thila. The entire channel of Fushifaru Kandu has been declared as Protected Marine Area. The Thila lies near the edge of the atoll in the middle of a 500 metre wide channel that separate the reefs of Fushifaru and Madhiriguraidhoo Faru. The Thila is about 150 metres long and 50 metres wide and rises to about 10 metres at its highest point. The top in both ends is around 16 metres in depth. There are cleaner wrasse stations all over the reef and it is common to spot manta rays during the dive. Big schools of hump back and blue striped snappers, close of fusiliers, giant trevally, oriental sweet lips and barracuda are frequent visitors of the Thila.

Shipyard
Lhaviyani AtollJust a 30 to 45 minutes boat ride west of Fushifaru island is lies one of the famous dive sites in the Lhaviyani atoll known as the Shipyard. Located at the east side of Felivaru Kandu, In the channel that separates the islands of Felivaru and Gaaerifaru lies two ship wrecks from the Felivaru factory. One of the wrecks, Skipjack II, has the bow section sitting on the top of the reef, while the second wreck lies 40 metres away on its port side in 28 metres of water. Soft and hard corals have grown in both wrecks, at 18 metres you will find a cave with a scorpion fish. You will also find plenty of morays, school of yellow sweeper, different kinds of reef fish including boxfish, pufferfish, porcupinefish, napoleon and many more interesting marine life. This is a dive site not to be missed.

Kuredu Express
Lhaviyani AtollA 30 to 45 minutes boat ride north of Fushifaru is another Protected Marine Area with a very interesting channel to explore. If you are into drift diving, this is just the right dive site for you. This long drift dive covers just about everything a diver dreams to see in the waters of the Maldives. There are colourful overhangs on the steep outside reef while on the eastern corner between 10 and 22 metres, the reef steps down with terraces and overhangs. The ceilings of the overhangs at 18 metres are covered with soft coral and leaf fish can be found nearby. The channel has small overhangs on the side with plenty of morays and on the sandy bottom stingrays are a common sight. Tuna are also abundant on this area but the stars of the show are the Grey Reef sharks – frequent visitors to this site.
